In a follow-up to their 2023 collaboration with Bernard Sumner of New Order/Joy Division, “Solidarity,” which leaned heavily into a post-punk groove, Gogol Bordello conceived their new album as a deeper adventure into this electrifying Wild Sonic West. They teamed up with producers Nick Launay (Gang of Four, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds) and Adam “Atom” Greenspan (Idles, Amyl and the Sniffers) to merge their trademark Gypsy punk raw energy with masterful electronic layers and powerful gated drum rhythms.

Here’s what Eugene has to say about what to expect from the new album out in February:

“This album brings all original inspirations of Gogol Bordello together more than any other: punk, hardcore, synth punk, Gypsy music. I never saw them as separate cookie jars–we are cross-pollinators. I conceived the idea of this album as a collaboration with one of my favorite producers of all time, Nick Launay. After meeting Nick at a party some years ago we knew we were gonna make a record together, it was just a matter of time. I believe that the new album is the best Frankenstein we’ve done since ‘Gypsy Punks.’”

To get a taste of the new sound, check out the second single, “Hater Liquidator,” out today. The track follows the previously released title track, “We Mean It, Man!” Eugene describes it as a “bonanzatronic dance floor crusher with a positive message on how to get through our roaring and warring ‘20s. Gogol Bordello’s multi-instrumentalism reigns supreme as Erica Mancini offers a refreshing, stellar organ performance.”
